What is 3-D Nipple Areola micro-pigmentation (tattoo)?
Micro-pigmentation (tattoo) is used to create a 3D image of an areola and/or nipple for Breast Cancer patients who have had breast reconstruction surgery. I am an artist for over 20 years, I came up with my method to make the most life like 3-D Nipples and Areolas you can make just by using many pigments, needles and German Micropigmentation (tattoo) Machine. Traditionally we were taught to just use 2 color pigments and 2 different needles. But I'm a true artist at heart, I use many shades of colors and many different needles like I would use in painting an art masterpiece. This procedure has changed my clients lives and told me I'm the best and top Nipple areola micropigmentation (tattoo) artist they've found in New York City after much research. Definitely the most attentive and customized to their needs.
The pigment is applied to the top layer of the skin called Dermis with a small electronic micropigmentation (tattoo) machine which uses fine needles to implant pigments, retouch in a few years. These needles are sterile and disposable. I am essentially drawing a piece of artwork on your skin.

How long will it take?
You can expect to be with us for about 2 hours on your initial visit, then another 1 hour additional if you’re doing both breasts. Some patients require one initial treatment followed by a second appointment to build up the pigment color.
What is the expected benefit of having this procedure? The aim of nipple and areola micro-pigmentation (tattoo) is to improve the aesthetic appearance of the breast by recreating, as closely as possible, a nipple and areola that mimics the existing nipple and areola (if applicable). This has a positive effect on improving body image and boosting self-esteem after reconstruction after Breast Cancer Mastectomy.

What can I expect to happen during the procedure?
We will go through your medical history to determine whether you have any allergies or any indications that would prohibit performing the procedure. I will map out and design your Nipple & Aerola placement and size. Choose a pigment color best match the shade of your other nipple and areola (if applicable). If you are having both breasts (bilateral) tattooed we’ll choose a color that closely matches your pre-operative photographs (if available) or one that suits your skin tone. Three layers of pigment will be applied. The tattoo process usually takes about 40 to 60 minutes to complete per breast. The color may appear 20-30% darker and brighter than the final result for the first few days.
Is this procedure painful?
The procedure should not be painful, although some tingling and discomfort are usually expected. Most patients are numb in their breast area. Occasionally patients require a topical local anesthetic cream applied 45-60 minutes prior to the procedure to numb the area.
What kind of aftercare should I do?
You may experience temporary swelling/ redness for the first day or two. Tegaderm, a sterile, breathable, waterproof, germ-proof barrier to protect your new tattoo. Leave the Tegaderm on for 3-4 days do not lift it, change it or remove it. Crusting/scabbing may occur in the areola & nipple area. This is a normal part of the healing process, and it is important not to pick at it as it may pull out the pigment and cause infection or scarring. You may use gauze after showering using antibacterial soap to pat the area dry & apply very thin layer Aquaphor or A&D ointment until it has fully healed. Do not swim, sunbathe, use a sauna or jacuzzi for two weeks to a month after the procedure to prevent pigment changes and infections.
